Macedonian Partners on Study Visit in Vienna

Representatives from the Macedonian Environment Ministry and local environmental authorities are visiting the Environment Agency Austria from 9-13 May. The experts from the Western Balkan country have come to Austria to get a picture of the implementation of the European Industrial Emissions Directive.

Partners from Serbia visiting Vienna

In April a delegation of waste experts from the Serbian Environment Ministry, the Serbian Environment Agency and the Environment Ministry of the autonomous province of Vojvodina had a meeting in Vienna. The Meeting was hosted by the Umweltbundesamt, the Environment Agency Austria.

Training course for international water experts

From 18 to 20 April, the Environment Agency Austria organised, on behalf of Eurostat (the European Union’s Statistical Office), a training course on European Water Statistics in Vienna. 21 participants from 15 countries took part.

Kick-off meeting of a new Environment Agency Austria project in Macedonia

A new project which is aimed at the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive in Macedonia startet in Skopje. The aim of the collaboration with the Austrian experts is to lay the legal foundation for the reduction of emissions from industrial installations.

The Environment Agency Austria and Croatian partners improved procedures for ecological network impact assessment. At the official closing event of this cooperation project on 24 November 2015 in Zagreb the results achieved during the last six months were presented.

Serbian Environment Minister makes a flying visit to Vienna

On 28-29 September, Snezana Bogosavljević-Bošković, the Serbian Environment Minister, came to Vienna to have a meeting with Andrä Rupprechter, the Austrian Environment Minister, in order to exchange views about biological agriculture and waste themes. A meeting with Georg Rebernig, Managing Director of the Environment Agency Austria, was also on the agenda.

In September high-ranking representatives from environment agencies and ministries of the Western Balkan countries met in the Environment Agency. Additionally Snezana Bogosavljević-Bošković, Serbia’s Environment Minister came to Vienna.

Land Use and Water Quality 2015

Experts discussed approaches to reduce the effects of land use and land use changes on the quality of groundwater and surface waters. The conference was jointly convened by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) and Umweltbundesamt.

United against plastic in the environment

The Austrian Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, Andrä Rupprechter, and Managing Director of the Environment Agency Austria, Georg Rebernig, handed over the pilot study on investigations of plastics in the Danube to the president of the EU Environment Council, Carole Dieschbourg.

Successful project completion in Croatia

With a closing event in Zagreb the Environment Agency Austria concluded a six-month partnership project with the Croatian authorities. Aim of the project was to make the proceedings against environmental crime more efficient and to better coordinate them.
