What is the 2020 outlook?

Projections of NOx and NO2 levels without additional measures at selected sections of highways have been modelled up to 2020 (Umweltbundesamt 2008b). Due to primary NO2 emissions caused by diesel vehicle after-treatment systems, NO2 levels will remain as they have been in recent years until 2013. From then on a decrease can be expected despite an increase in traffic volume.
