State of the Environment Report

The State-of-the-Environment Report (SoE Report) describes the environmental situation in Austria. According to the Environmental Control Act (Federal Legal Gazette 1998/152, Federal Act on Environmental Control and the Establishment of the Umweltbundesamt as a Limited Liability Company), it is a written report on the performance of environmental control which is presented to the Austrian National Assembly by the Federal Minister responsible for the environment every 3 years.
The Umweltbundesamt is the expert authority of the federal government for environmental protection and thus responsible for writing the State-of-the-Environment Report. Many years of technical expertise have enabled the Umweltbundesamt to carry out cross-media analyses (including highly specialised environmental analyses in in-house laboratories) and evaluations in many fields. The application of modern information technologies facilitates the processing and demand-oriented analysis of large data volumes. |
