Vienna 15 January 2015 – On 15 January, at an official kick-off event in Zagreb, the Environment Agency Austria presents a new project to improve environmental inspection in Croatia. The Austrian expert organisation provides advice to the Croatian authorities in matters of administrative capacity building and national legislation in the environment sector for the eighth time. “The new project is an opportunity to continue the successful cooperation which we have experienced over the last few years and to achieve major improvements in environmental conservation and environmental monitoring in Croatia,” says Georg Rebernig, managing director of the Environment Agency Austria, on the occasion of the kick-off event.

In the next six months, experts from five European countries will support the Croatian authorities in strengthening environmental inspections in order to ensure that companies with considerable environmental impacts comply with the applicable environmental regulations. Apart from the Environment Agency Austria, experts from the Criminal Intelligence Service Austria and from the federal provinces will participate in the project, along with experts from Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as from Sweden and Slovenia.
