Vienna 11 May 2016 – Representatives from the Macedonian Environment Ministry and local environmental authorities are visiting the Umweltbundesamt (Environment Agency Austria) from 9-13 May. The experts from the Western Balkan country have come to Austria to get a picture of the implementation of the European Industrial Emissions Directive. The programme includes a training on permitting of installations and onsite-visits of industrial installations where environmentally friendly operation is governed by the Industrial Emissions Directive. The experts will go to the Simmering gas power plant, the Pfaffenau waste incineration plant and a fertiliser manufacturer at Pischelsdorf.

The study visit to Vienna is part of an Environment Agency Austria project which started in October 2015. Within the project Austrian experts support Macedonian partners in the reduction of emissions from industrial installations. The Galician Regional Ministry of Environment in Spain is the junior partner in this project.
