I-PEPs pilot phase: Testing I-PEPs in practice with professional support
The I-PEPs pilot phase starts on 12 June 2025, in parallel with the the public consultation on the I-PEPs Methodology Standard. Together with financial companies, I-PEPs will be tested and analysed using actual portfolio data for different business areas.

During the pilot phase, participating financial companies will receive professional support from the expert team of the Environment Agency Austria (Coordinating Office of the Green Finance Alliance). The experiences of the pilot phase will be published anonymously in a report and will be incorporated into the development of the final methodology standard. The I−PEPs pilot phase is divided into two parts: The first part is aimed exclusively at GFA members. In the second phase, all financial companies are invited to participate.

- Segregated sub-portfolios for GHG intensive sectors (e.g. utility companies) (LPEPsector)
- Underwriting portfolio
- Underwriting activities with commercial clients (UPEP)
- Segregated sub-portfolios for GHG intensive sectors (UPEPsector)
* The abbreviations of the indicators are explained in the methodology standard
Pilotphase 2:
1 August - 30 September 2025
- Target group: all financial companies
- The second pilot phase is aimed at all financial companies (banks, insurance companies, asset managers, pension funds, corporate provision funds) that want to test I-PEPs with professional support. The exact scope of the test and the associated time required will be agreed on an individual basis.
