Work during the COVID-19 pandemic

Vienna, 06. April 2020

While most of our experts have been working from home for clients and partners since 16 March, some staff members are still working on site. They carry out important work in our buildings in Spittelauer and Brigittenauer Lände - whether in reception, building services, accounting, laboratory or IT.

We would like to thank all our employees at the locations and in the home office for their contributions to ensuring smooth operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their dedication and commitment will enable us to continue our work in the administrative and technical areas, and to do so in the usual quality.

This still applies:

  • The staff of the Environment Agency Austria can still be reached by e-mail and telephone at their respective telephone extensions and are at your disposal as usual.
  • Business trips are cancelled.
  • The reception desk at our location Spittelauer Lände 5, 1090 Vienna continues to be staffed.
  • Central internal services such as IT, mailroom and in-house technicians are available to a limited extent on site and in compliance with high security standards.
  • Opening hours of our accredited testing laboratory for environmental-, GMO- and fuel analysis: Samples can be deposited at the reception desk at Spittelauer Lände 5, 1090 Vienna, from Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and on Fridays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (please notify us in advance by email: pruefstelle@umweltbundesamt.at).
  • The operation of our accredited calibration laboratory for air quality and the air quality monitoring network will also be maintained until further notice.

We kindly ask you to support us in implementing the official measures and to avoid any personal contact to the extent possible. We therefore ask you to use the technical tools such as telephone, e-mails and Skype conferences.

We will inform you as soon as we adapt these measures and are looking forward to our continued cooperation.

Data protection information for our customers and clients

The protection and security of your personal data are very important to us. The Environment Agency Austria (Umweltbundesamt GmbH) stores and processes data strictly in accordance with the GDPR.

The coronavirus is presenting an enormous challenge for everyone at the moment, which includes the Environment Agency Austria and its communication and cooperation with customers and clients. Demands on the  technical infrastructure have risen dramatically with people now working from their home offices. Therefore, pragmatic solutions are required.

For this reason, the Environment Agency Austria has decided to use, where necessary, the Microsoft cloud product OneDrive for its communication activities. The processing of the data takes place in the EU (Microsoft Geo-Location EU) in accordance with the GDPR.

This is a temporary measure that will only be applicable for the time during which special measures are made necessary by the coronavirus situation.

If you have any questions about this, please contact our Data Protection Officer at: datenschutz@umweltbundesamt.at.
