This report presents information on projections, policies and measures related to greenhouse gas emissions in Austria according to reporting obligations as defined in the EU Monitoring Mechanism Regulation (525/2013/EU). It includes greenhouse gas projections for the coming years until 2035 and describes policies and measures in place to reduce emissions by source.
The results are based on the scenario “with existing measures”, which takes into account climate change mitigation measures implemented in Austria before January 1, 2018.
The scenario presented in the report shows a 1.3 percent increase in greenhouse gases from 1990 to 2020 and a 8.1 percent decrease from 1990 to 2035.
This future trend 2017–2035 is mainly driven by a decrease in the Energy (minus 13% or 7.0 Mt of CO2 equivalent) and Industrial Processes sector (minus 16% or 2.7 Mt of CO2 equivalent).
