This report on Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990–2011, compiled by the Umweltbundesamt (Environment Agency Austria), presents a summary of Austria’s provisional emission inventory for the year 2011 and the final emission inventory for the year 2010 according to Article 8 of the NEC Directive.
Over the period between 2010 and 2011, emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) decreased by 1.8% while nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) decreased by 2.2% and emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) decreased by 4.2%. Ammonia emissions (NH3) decreased by 1.3% during the same period.
A comparison with the national emission ceilings to be attained by 2010 shows that emissions of SO2, NMVOC und NH3 were below these ceilings, whereas the NOx emissions were considerably above them.
